The new Corsa D OPC / VXR facelift is equipped with an updated Bosch ECU which cannot be reprogrammed by the universal tools which could reflash the previous versions. As Opel / Vauxhall dedicated tuners we developed our custom reflash tool for this application. The engine works perfectly with 1.3 bar overboost and 1.15 bar constant pressure up to the rev limiter. This set up performs 215 Hp and 28 Kgm in very high reliability.

The stock pre-cat has been replaced by the MGI Decat Downpipe reducing the backpressure and improving the exhaust gases flow resulting to better volumetric efficiency.

The O2 sensor has been installed after the main cat to monitor its efficiency.

The ACDelco ECU unit has been reflashed using our own reflash tools. The boost pressure has been adjust at 1.4 bar overboost and 1.1 constant, the air/fuel mixture at AFR=10.8 and with zero knock retard.

    We are glad to present you our 3rd in a row project car for extremely high engine power. This engine was running perfectly for two years without any malfunction at 50 Kgm and 310 Hp with the MGI 3rd Stage fitted.

    Since the turbo kit will be installed, the engine power will be much greater than 400 Hp, so it is essential to install forged engine internals which can meet the stress requirements of this application.

    The car was fitted with a DBilas turbo kit but the stock Z14XE pistons and rods could not operate reliably for boost pressure greater than 0.5bar. The Wössner Forged Pistons and the Forged Steel Connenting Rods fitted to increase the endurance of the engine. Using a boost controller the engine has been adjusted to run at 1.4 bar overboost and 1.1 bar constant and 10:1 AFR.

    The ecu has been reflashed adjusting the air fuel ratio to the safe AFR=11.3 (considering the forged wossner pistons) with almost zero knock retard.

    The measurement has been done on a MAHA LPS3000 (AGELIDIS) dyno, in 19.1C ambient temperature and 1016.4 hPa barometric pressure.

    The engine calibration has been done considering the 97RON fuel in the gas tank.

    However the software can adapt the use of gas 100RON and 95RON adjusting correspondingly the engine power.

    Also it is considerable that the measurement has been done in 74.9% relative humidity that has negative effect in the engine’s volumetric efficiency. In drier environmental conditions (e.g. 50%) the engine can perform 5% more power.

  • It is obvious that the use of the MGI Front Mount Intercooler KIT improved the engine’s volumetric efficiency by reducing the intake air temperature, as the torque and the power has been considerably increased in the whole range of engine speed, and up to +4 Kgm at 2800-3300 rpm compared with the first stage at the same pressure ratio.

    Our reflash platform is made for Opel / Vauxhall only and it is not a universal reflash tool.

    Regarding the engine performance, it is remarkable that the engine torque has been raised up to 2 Kgm (at 3600 rpm) while the horsepower has been increased by 5 Hp with 95 RON fuel and the stock air filter!

    The ECU calibration has been done considering the 100RON fuel, although the software can adapt the use of 95RON without malfunctions .

  • The MGI Front Mount Intercooler KIT improves the volumetric efficiency of the engine by reducing the intake temperature and by improving the air flow from the compressor to the engine. Considering these advantages we developed a custom ECU reflash on the dyno combining high mid torque performance and considerable increase in horsepower at high range of engine speed.
    The results of this stage are crystal clear on the power graph.

    Both engine torque and power have been significantly increased in the whole range of engine speed and especially at the speed range 2500-5000 rpm where the torque and the power have been increased by +18 Kgm and +105 Hp correspondingly!

    Also the improved volumetric efficiency acts positively to the reliability of the turbocharger, as the induction pressure remains within the specifications for turbocharger’s safe operation without any trace of surging.

    Furthermore the in cylinder temperature remains low through the proper calibration of the air fuel ratio at 10.8:1 and the antiknock correction remains zero.

    The final result is great as the engine produced +95 Hp and 18 Kgm with high reliability at a great value for money stage! br>

  • As always, we are able to customize the software according to our customer’s needs. The 90% of the driving cycle of the car is going to be in Crete, an environment with high average temperature and relative humidity.
    This is the reason our client required to produce a relative low boost remap that would be approximately 300 Hp, but with low intake temperature rise, with zero knocking retard. We recommended the high flow Greddy air filter and the 3” full turboback, because using this hardware we are able to achieve our goal with the lowest pressure ratio and backpressure.

    It is remarkable that the intake temperature has been raised only by 14.3 °C compared with the temperature in the environment, even with the high load of the dyno (MAHA LPS3000), assisting the engine to perform 304 Hp, in a powerband 4500 rpm to the rev limiter.
    The quality of the combustion is optimum with zero knock retard, even in high temperature.

    It is remarkable that the intake temperature has been raised only by 4 °C related with the ambient temperature, even with the boost pressure at 1.95 bar and high load.

    The good performance of the MGI FMIC was a great contribution for the engine to perform 445 Hp at crank for a wide range of engine speed up to the rev limiter, with the OEM camshafts and the OEM intake manifold!

    The combustion quality reaches the optimum level with the ignition retarding to remain almost zero (as shown on the dyno plot above), under high environmental temperature, full load and high boost pressure,.

    Safety and reliability has a major role in our tuning philosophy. It is obvious on the dyno plot that the AFR level has been calibrated for optimum reliability (AFR-> 11:1 – 11.3:1) ensuring that both the combustion temperature and the EGT remain relatively low.

    Another parameter that affects reliability is the engine torque. It is important for the reliability of the engine, to calibrate the torque within a specific range. Also its curve has to be smooth without sudden peaks, ensuring that the connecting rods will not be subjected in high stresses. If the torque plot is not smooth, including torque spikes, could overstress the connecting rods resulting to their failure.

    For this reason the boost pressure has been calibrated, via the sophisticated stock engine management, to rise progressively up to the rev limiter, where the volumetric efficiency reduces dramatically.

    Though this calibration the torque is contantly high in a wide range of engine speed peaking at 49.5 Kgm. The result is that the vehicle spins less than a first stage set up! maintaining the stock drivability!

    Through this video , it is clear that the vehicle accelerates nice and smoothly @ 60 – 180 kmh ( 2nd – 3rd Gear ) :

    The main criteria for the selection of the aftermarket parts were the reliability and performance. The highlighted green line on the following figure, indicates the operation of the turbocharger, which work within its efficient area without surging possibility, with the tremendous 78% efficiency, and the turbocharger speed peaking at 118000 rpm while its safety limit is at 145000+ rpm :






    1. The MAF diameter has been increased by 7% to be more analytical at 320+ gr/sec.

    2. Heat Shield , to ensure that the temperature in the engine bay will remain low.

    3. High endurance silicon hoses .

    4. Stock Boost Control Management using the OEM N75 Valve.

    5. High Quality Oil-Water Turbocharger Lines .

    The dyno run was performed on a MAHA LPS3000 (AGELIDIS) in 25 Celsius ambient temperature.

    MGI Motorsport FMIC is made of much stronger material compared with the stock intercooler, giving the advantage to run the engine at 1.7 bar overboost and 1.4 bar constant pressure without failure. Furthermore it’s core design provides much better air flow, (channels height: 7mm)
    Finally, Airinx air intake kit provides much better airflow to the intake of the compressor reducing drastically the pressure ratio and the overall strain to the turbocharger. Specifications

    The car was fitted with a DBilas turbo kit but the stock Z14XE pistons and rods could not operate reliably for boost pressure greater than 0.5bar. The Wössner Forged Pistons and the Forged Steel Connenting Rods fitted to increase the endurance of the engine. Using a boost controller the engine has been adjusted to run at 1.4 bar overboost and 1.1 bar constant and 10:1 AFR. Specifications

  • The torque has been adjusted to be constant 27.5 ±1 kgm almost in the whole range of engine speed (up to the peak power) peaking at 4900 rpm (29.9 Kgm). This set up represents our philosophy for maximum reliability, operating the engine with constant pressure no more than 1.1 bar and 1.4 bar overboost.
    The fitting of the MGI downpipe has reduced the backpressure in the exhaust and the fitting of the MGI Motorsport front mount intercooler results to the lowering of the intake air temperature from the 85 C to the 45 C (- 40 C) for better fuel efficiency and reliability.

    The fitting of the MGI downpipe will reduce the backpressure in the exhaust resulting in +7Hp extra power.
